Areas of Specialty
Psychological Assessment (Ages 6 & Up)
I dedicate the majority of my clinical practice to psychological assessment to assist in the understanding of you or a child’s experience. Assessment can help identify and explain differences in brain style that impact things like attention and learning, social and behavioral patterns, personality styles, and sensory experiences. Assessment can also help to shed light on specific strengths within your brain style as well and how to channel those strengths into meaningful changes in your life.
Purpose of Testing
Although many seek assessment primarily in order to clarify diagnoses, I view the process as far more meaningful beyond diagnostic clarification. I approach testing as a vehicle through which we better understand you or your child. Improving self-understanding then lends itself to individualized recommendations and feedback for moving forward in a more effective and empowered way. If you are working with an individual therapist, I believe in consulting with that provider so the assessment findings can serve as a catalyst for growth in that relationship as well. Assessment can also help provide ideas for accommodations for the workplace or a child’s academic environment. For parents considering assessment for their child, I dedicate much of my feedback process to helping guide parents towards the next steps in best supporting their child with this new information under their belt.
Process of Testing
Testing always involves an initial clinical intake where we identify your needs and questions around testing. Following this, assessment is usually completed in 1-2 face-to-face appointments and is supplemented by collecting rating scale information from others in your life. After all data is collected, we will schedule a comprehensive feedback session to go over my findings and recommendations.
Individual Therapy (Ages 14 & Up)
While I maintain a small caseload of therapy clients, I am currently dedicating much of my clinical time to assessment. General areas of specialty include: anxiety, ADHD coping skills, parenting issues, trauma and EMDR.
Workshops & Trainings
After years of specializing in the assessment of neurodivergence, I am excited to announce I will begin providing workshops and trainings in the community focused on improving others’ understanding of neurodivergence. Training workshops will serve both mental health professionals as well as parents of children who have recently been diagnosed with conditions such as autism spectrum or ADHD. Trainings can be provided in person or virtually. For more information or specific inquiries, please contact me.
